Summary:

The Sr. Tech Lead - Aerodynamics shall be a member of Airtechnology Group, Aerospace & Defence division, AMETEK India. 

  • The Engineer shall be responsible for Aerodynamics lead role for the Thermal systems products covering whole lifecycle including R &D, bids & proposals, NPN and Production and in-service support.
  • Responsible for delivering aerodynamic technical solutions relating to fans and heaters new product development to performance, cost and quality requirements.
  • Act as Technical Lead Engineer on a number of diverse and challenging high-speed fan specialized cooling and heating projects for aerospace and defence applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The role will have responsibility for all Aerodynamic solutions related to the fans and heaters business. Ability to perform thermodynamic heat transfer calculations and proficient in the theory of thermodynamics, aerodynamics and fluid dynamics.
  • Having a high degree of expertise in 1D and 3D thermo-fluids analysis. Good understanding of the principles and application of CFD (previous experience in ANSYS CFD would be an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret and make design optimisation decisions based on Finite Element Analyses (experience of ANSYS FEA tool set an advantage)
  • Preparation of technical proposals, costings and associated documentation to support business development
  • The candidate will be expected to continually improve and develop simulation and optimisation techniques and methodologies enhancing the development of fans and heaters.
  • Design and performance modelling, design verification and full lifecycle development within a gated review New Product Introduction environment.
  • This position suits an individual who has a good balance between academic/analytical and hardware development experience.   
  • Lead varied product development projects to ensure that the component design meets technical specification, cost, quality, and timescale requirements.
  • Support legacy equipment in the field in terms of ongoing technical support to our customer base over the operating life of the product.
  • Be actively involved with development activity to support the rollout of our technology roadmap.
  • Mentoring and supervision of junior colleagues to support their development into more senior positions within the business
  • Test and test rig definition in advance of prototyping and as part of production readiness process.
  • Support of customer evaluation of prototypes, on occasions at customer site.
  • Timely production support to resolve build and test issues.
  • Work consistently to the requirements set out within the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

 

Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions

  • Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role Manager.
  • Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
  • At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • On occasion, you may be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to training, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.

Education and Experience

  • Masters / PhD degree in Mechanical / Thermal / Aerospace Engineering
  • 12 to 15 years’ experience in an engineering environment
  • Experience working independent of direct daily supervision
