Role Overview

 

Electronic components across all commodity categories continue to face global supply constraints, lifecycle risks, and availability challenges. In this role, the Senior Component Engineer - Corporate will support corporate component engineering initiatives across multiple business units by addressing current supply constraints, identifying component risks, supporting alternate part recommendations, and contributing to proactive risk mitigation initiatives.

The role will work closely with BU Engineering, Buyers, Sourcing teams, EMS providers, OEMs, distributors, and independent brokers to understand supply versus demand challenges, evaluate component alternatives, and support implementation. The position will also contribute to standard work, component data quality, compliance reviews, and risk mitigation initiatives across the organization.

Responsibilities

 

Current Component Supply Constraints

 

  • Support business units in resolving immediate component shortages and critical supply issues.
  • Work with BU, sourcing, procurement, EMS providers, distributors, and brokers to identify alternate sources and supply options.
  • Review distributor availability, broker options, lead times, and market conditions to support supply continuity.
  • Provide component-level analysis and recommendations to BU Engineering and sourcing teams.

 

Risk Management and Product Reviews

 

  • Support BOM risk reviews across commodity categories including semiconductors, passives, electromechanical components, connectors, and other electronic components.
  • Identify lifecycle, sole-source, single-source, REE, availability, and compliance risks.
  • Review supplier and commodity market trends to highlight potential future supply challenges.
  • Use tools such as SiliconExpert, OEM data, distributor portals, and other component databases to identify alternate parts.
  • Assess alternate components for basic parametric, form-fit-function, lifecycle, availability, and compliance fit.
  • Support gap closure between component data sources such as Qlik, SiliconExpert, PLM, and internal trackers.

 

Compliance and Standards

 

  • Support component compliance reviews for RoHS, REACH, PFAS, CAL65, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure identified alternates include required compliance and lifecycle information.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and support component compliance data requirements as needed.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

 

  • Work with design engineering, sourcing, procurement, quality, manufacturing, EMS partners, OEMs, and distributors to support component selection and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with BU teams to validate alternate parts and support implementation decisions.

 

Supplier and Risk Management

 

  • Support supplier, distributor, and OEM engagement for component availability, lifecycle, and technical data.
  • Ensure component data accuracy and consistency across internal systems and external tools.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of Component Engineering experience.
  • Good knowledge of electronics and electromechanical components across all major commodity categories.
  • Experience in component lifecycle review, alternate part identification, and BOM risk analysis.
  • Working knowledge of PLM systems such as Agile, Windchill, or similar tools.
  • Experience using component databases such as SiliconExpert, IHS, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong MS Excel skills and ability to manage large component datasets.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams across engineering, sourcing, procurement, quality, and manufacturing.

 

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Experience supporting EMS, OEM, distributor, and broker engagement.
  • Familiarity with RoHS, REACH, PFAS, CAL65, and component compliance requirements.

 

Exposure to global electronics supply chain dynamics and commodity market trends.
