Summary:   

    

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer with 1 year of experience in aerospace embedded software development and verification. The candidate will be involved in the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, embedded C software development, verification and validation activities, configuration management, and defect tracking for safety-critical aerospace applications.

The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience with STM32F Microcontrollers, IAR Embedded Workbench, IBM DOORS, PVCS Version Manager, and Mantis Bug Tracker, along with a strong understanding of aerospace software development processes and DO-178B/C guidelines. The person in this position is expected to be an independent contributor able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment.  Strong written and oral communication are essential for status reporting, milestone deliverables, and effectively interfacing directly with team members, customers, and program managers

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Software Development

  • Develop, modify, and maintain embedded software using C programming language.
  • Implement software requirements based on approved aerospace system specifications.
  • Perform coding, debugging, integration, and unit testing activities.
  • Support software maintenance, issue resolution, and change implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with project coding standards and software development processes.

 

Embedded Systems Development

  • Develop firmware for STM32F series microcontrollers.
  • Utilize IAR Embedded Workbench for software development, compilation, debugging, and deployment.
  • Interface with hardware peripherals and communication protocols such as ARINC 429, UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
  • Support board-level testing and hardware-software integration activities.

 

Requirements Engineering

  • Analyze and understand Technical Requirement Document (TRD) and Functional Requirement Specifications (FRQ).
  • Maintain requirements traceability using IBM DOORS.
  • Participate in requirements reviews and change impact assessments.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, design documents, source code, and test artifacts.

 

Verification & Validation

  • Develop High-Level Test Procedures (HLTPs) based on system and software requirements.
  • Execute HLTPs and document test evidence and results.
  • Review HLTPs to ensure completeness, correctness, and requirements coverage.
  • Prepare and review High-Level Test Result Sheets (HLTRS).
  • Participate in software verification and validation activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct peer reviews and support audit activities.

 

Configuration & Change Management

  • Manage software artifacts, source code, and project documentation using PVCS Version Manager.
  • Support software baselining and release activities.
  • Ensure compliance with configuration management and change control processes.

 

Defect Management

  • Report, analyze, track, and verify defects using Mantis Bug Tracker.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Participate in defect review and closure activities.

 

Process Compliance

  • Adhere to aerospace software development processes and quality standards.
  • Support project reviews, audits, and certification activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety-critical software development practices.

Programming & Embedded Software

  • Strong knowledge of Embedded C Programming.
  • Experience in software design, coding, debugging, integration, and testing.
  • Hands-on experience with STM32F Microcontrollers.
  • Experience using IAR Embedded Workbench for firmware development and debugging.
  • Understanding of embedded software architecture and real-time systems.

 

Aerospace Domain Knowledge

  • Good understanding of aerospace software development and verification lifecycle.

Educational Qualification    

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Computer Science Engineering (OR)
    • Electronics & Communication Engineering

 

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to avionics or aerospace embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with serial communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, ARINC 429) and A/D and DAC interfaces.
  • Exposure to safety-critical software development environments.
  • Experience participating in DO-178B/C projects.
  • Familiarity with software review, testing, and quality assurance processes.
  • Working knowledge of Tools like DOORS for requirements management, Mantis for issue tracking and PVCS for configuration management
