Job Description: 

Position Summary:

 

Conceptualize, design, and develop power converters for programmable AC and DC power products.  Perform design and document aspects such as power converter design including selection of semiconductor device (such as MOSFET, IGBT), loss calculation, gate drive circuits, Magnetic (Transformers and inductors) for new products and for the upgrades. Develop test plan and perform testing to validate implementation to ensure product meets required performance specifications.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

 

Business Strategy

 

  • Key member of technical team for development of new products and value engineering for the existing product lines.

 

Performance, Metrics & Reporting

 

  • Review technical requirements and develop project plan support development of different AC and DC programmable power supplies.
  • Manage and maintain project schedule; 
  • Provide weekly updates on project progress

 

People Management & Employee Development

 

  • Interface with the support resources to co-ordinate product development activities (Mechanical engineer, PCB designer, Production team etc)
  • Adhere to  personnel policy requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of staff and departmental and company information

 

Operation & Execution

 

  • Analyze functional/ specification requirements for the power supply and select appropriate power topology required.
  • Select appropriate semiconductor device (MOSFET, Diode, IGBT etc.,) required for the power converter.
  • Perform loss calculation and select appropriate cooling scheme.
  • Design application specific feedback control circuits for programmable AC and DC power supplies. 
  • Design circuits to support development of Digital control modules (inclusive of peripheral functions such as ADC, DAC, etc.,)
  • Work with PCB design engineer to perform layout activities.
  • Work with assembly house and develop prototypes for the design.
  • Develop test plan and perform validation test to ensure compliance to specifications
  • Other duties as assigned by the Eng  Mgr

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences

 

  • Minimum of 5- 8 years’ experience in developing Power Converters Such as DC/DC, PFC and DC/AC or MTech fresh graduates with good background from the premier educational institution.
  • Bachelors in Electrical engineering and Masters in Power electronics is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge on voltage mode and current mode feedback control methods is required.
  • Knowledge of standard ASIC used for the converter control is preferred.
  • Experience in power converter testing is required.
  • Familiar with various analog op amp circuits and general purpose digital circuits is required.
  • Familiar with product evaluation tasks.
  • Experience with all normal laboratory equipment and practices.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Develop power stages for the programmable AC and DC power supplies/
  • Develop and validate power stages and perform detailed design verification testing (Regulation, Programming accuracy, transient performance, etc.)
  • Responsible for one or more power supply product lines including developing of control
  • Implementing upgrades, new features for the existing product lines.
  • Provide engineering support of including: troubleshooting hardware problems/failures and to find root-cause; proposing solutions to overcome product problems; evaluating hardware and making recommendations for improvements; processing product documentation, (schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings, ECOs, etc.…).
  • Conduct evaluation testing of products and generate formal summary reports.
