Job Description:
Power BI Lead - General Roles & Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, data models, and reports, turning raw data into actionable business insights. Key responsibilities include utilizing DAX and SQL for data analysis, optimizing data models (Star Schema), and publishing reports via Power BI Service.
Data Modeling & Transformation:
- Designed and developed complex data models using Star Schema principles in Power BI Desktop.
- Utilized Power Query (M Language) to clean, transform, and merge data from multiple sources (SQL, Excel, SharePoint).
- Created advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and tables for complex business calculations.
- Visualization & Reporting:
- Developed interactive dashboards and reports using advanced visuals, including maps, scatter plots, and custom visuals.
- Implemented drill-down, drill-through, and tooltips to enhance user experience and data interactivity.
- Gathered requirements from stakeholders to translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Power BI Service & Administration:
- Published and managed reports in Power BI Service, configuring workspaces, apps, and content packs.
- Scheduled automated data refreshes and managed data gateways.
- Implemented Row-Level Security (RLS) to restrict data access based on user roles.
- Optimization & Analysis:
- Optimized report performance using the Performance Analyzer, reducing load times.
- Analyzed large datasets to identify trends, key performance indicators (KPIs), and actionable insights.
- Conducted User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure report accuracy and performance.

Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 4–10+ years in data engineering, with specific experience in cloud migration projects (Azure, Synapse, Databricks).
- Fabric Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric components: OneLake, Data Factory, Lakehouse, and Warehouse.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong SQL, Python, and Spark skills for ETL/ELT development.
- Governance Knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft Purview and data security best practices.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-workstream projects with offshore teams.
- Power BI: Experience in migrating and optimizing Power BI datasets and reports.
