TMC is seeking a career‑minded Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will develop cost‑effective, high‑quality product designs that meet customer requirements while leveraging TMC’s in‑house manufacturing capabilities and global supplier network.
You will play a key role in TMC’s continued success by owning product designs from concept through production release and by producing clear, accurate customer and manufacturing documentation. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams in the United States and India, contributing to both new product development and sustaining engineering efforts for global OEM customers.
Success in this role requires strong product and process awareness, initiative to drive continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced production and sales support environment with a strong sensitivity to schedule. This role offers strong potential for technical growth and increased responsibility through exposure to global customers, suppliers, and advanced manufacturing environments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume design responsibility for existing products and support the design and development of new OEM applications
- Create 3D solid models during conceptual design stage and sales negotiation
- Release 2D manufacturing drawings for production and procurement incorporating GD&T methodology and QA/QC standards
- Conduct design reviews at peer, program and upper management levels as needed
- Attend online meetings, design reviews, and other online activities with partial workday overlap (evening IST as required)
- Maintain design documentation in accordance with internal ISO 9001 procedures and external requirements.
- Review and implement Engineering Change Order (ECO) requests
- Provide design support to Sales/Marketing in pursuing new customer opportunities
- Provide sustaining engineering support for existing products, including addressing issues of component obsolescence/revisions and global outsourcing initiatives
Qualifications:
- Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering (BE / BTech or equivalent)
- 2+ years of Engineering work experience in an ISO 9001 manufacturing business, specific experience in metal fabrication and electro-mechanical assembly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks
- 1+ year of experience using Product Data Management preferably SolidWorks PDM
- In-depth knowledge of ANSI/ASME Y14.5M drawing standards, (GD&T) tolerancing, surface finishes, material properties
- Design for quality, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Familiarity with electromechanical assembly
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
- Able to demonstrate proficiency in the interaction of systems with mechanical, electrical, and electronic content
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to collaborate effectively within cross‑functional and multicultural teams.
