Position Title – IT System Engineer

Position Summary:

 This Multi-Platform Systems Engineer position will report to the Director and is expected to interact with and support the Forza Engineering and administrative staff. Duties include deploying, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual Linux/Windows servers, and workstations for the business unit.  Candidates with more than five years’ system administration experience, working primarily with Linux servers and networks will be considered. The candidate will be able to integrate Microsoft Windows and macOS products in a Linux environment and manage systems and applications supported by these platforms.  

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage Linux Servers (CentOS / RedHat / Ubuntu) including the application programs, operating systems and the physical/virtual infrastructure that runs them.
• Manage the Installation of tools/applications on Linux systems (CentOS / RedHat / Ubuntu).
• Review daily monitoring jobs/logs to ensure system performance and availability.
• Configure and maintain Linux/Windows and MacOS workstations.
• Perform system updates for all assets/environments as applicable.
• Create and maintain shell scripts.
• Maintain and manage all license servers.
• Provide technical support, working both over the phone/via chat/video with end-users, documenting resolution through a ticketing system.
• Utilize troubleshooting skills to triage issues with tools running on a Linux system.
• Manage backup of data and ensure integrity and availability of stored data.
• Maintain clear documentation of system(s) and maintenance activity.
• Ensure Cyber/Security conformance by ensuring that Critical Vulnerabilities are addressed.
• Drive changes using the Change Management process when implementing software upgrades, patches, and hardware changes.
• Conduct security audits for all servers and end-user systems and devices.
• Oversee and conduct security and application patching and upgrading.
• Monitor compliance with backup policy and procedures.
• Tests restore/recovery hardware, software, and procedures.

Position Requirements:

• Five or more years of experience in information technology including Server installation, maintenance, and administration, preferably in a Linux environment.
• 4-year college or vocational degree in Information Services/Computer Science/related field or equivalent technical experience.
• Appropriate industry or position certifications acquired or in progress. (e.g. CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA or higher, LFCS).
• Foundational knowledge of ITIL 4.
• Experience as a Linux System (CentOS / RedHat / Ubuntu) and Server Administrator.
• Experienced in Linux Command Line and Scripting.
• Experience with VNC servers on Linux platforms.
• Experience with SVN and GIT servers on Linux platforms.
• Experience with troubleshooting VPN issues.
• Experience with Virtualization / Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
• Knowledgeable of access control across operating systems, file systems, and services.
• Knowledgeable of system auditing/log analysis processes and tools.
• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people remotely and debug hardware issues.
• Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently.
• Possess a drive to learn and is adaptable to new or changing technologies.
• Excellent technical documentation skills.
• Experience with ICManage is a plus.
• Experience with Cadende Virtuoso suite is a plus.
• Experience with Mentor Graphics Calibre is a plus.
• Experience with PDK is a plus.
• Experience with an ERP system is a plus.
• Experience with Windows / macOS is a plus.
• Experience should include planning and undertaking non-disruptive or minimally disruptive upgrades and new installations.
• Experience with backup, directory services and application and operating system management in a networked environment.
• Experience supporting/using IC design tools/software.
• End user support experience.

Technical Reqirements:

• Expert level of knowledge with Linux for server and workstations administration.
• Working knowledge of computer hardware including workstation and Server hardware installation and maintenance in a Linux and Windows environment.
• Working knowledge of IC design tools/software.
• Expert knowledge of Remote desktop tools including VNC.
• Working knowledge of code management software including SVN, Git and Git Lab.
• Working knowledge of a reasonable set of applications such as Microsoft M365, Teams, Office, and collaboration software.
• Working knowledge of Windows for server 2016 or higher and Windows 10/11.
• Working knowledge of MacOS for workstations.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity and standards surrounding it.
• Working knowledge of a reasonable set of technologies including SQL Server, Veeam, VMWare, IIS, PHP, Apache including HTTPD and Tomcat, TLS/SSL, OpenSSL and related technologies.
• Ability to readily learn and master new technologies.
• Advanced customer service skills under normal and extreme conditions.
• Working knowledge of network hardware including switches and routers.
• Entry level knowledge of network protocols and operating systems, including Cisco IOS, XE, BGP, MPLS, VRF, VOIP.
