Job Description:
As a member of the Electronics R&D Team, the Electronics Test Equipment Engineer is responsible for designing automated test equipment that is used to validate, configure, program and test electronic circuits (PCBAs) and electronic systems. The designed test equipment can be used for internal R&D purposes but also for volume production at manufacturing sites. The engineer will be involved in hardware and software development related to the test equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in project management to evaluate costs and timeline of development.
- Design and develop embedded hardware including microcontroller‑based systems, peripheral interfaces, and power circuits.
- Design automated and semi‑automated electronic test equipment for product validation and manufacturing use.
- Development of firmware and software required to operate the test equipment.
- Define test requirements.
- Participate in DFT (Design-for-Test) reviews and internal standards.
- Assist PCB CAD Engineer with PCB Layout guidelines and PCB layer Stacking.
- Prototype and testing support for locally developed and fabricated assemblies.
- Cable harness design.
- Write documentation to support the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
- Support production operators related to test equipment.
- Collaborate with vendors to produce custom electrical assemblies as required.
Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Masters Preferred
- 5+ years’ progressively responsible experience in embedded hardware and firmware development.
- Strong experience in microcontroller‑based circuit design and embedded firmware development.
- Proficiency in embedded programming using C / C++.
- Experience in automation or scripting (Python or similar) for test or validation activities.
- Experience in designing and developing electronic test equipment for validation and manufacturing.
- Hands‑on experience in schematic capture using Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
- Experience in board bring‑up, debugging, and validation of embedded systems.
- Familiarity with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and debuggers (JTAG/SWD).
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communications – Ability to clearly present complex information
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, etc.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in PCB layout design or close collaboration with PCB layout engineers.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments and production test support.
- Experience working with cross‑functional and global engineering teams.
- Participate and present technical updates to the wider engineering team on a weekly basis
