Job Title:  Electronic Components Engineer

Role Summary:

Electronic components, of all commodity categories, are in high demand globally with constrained supply capacity.  In this role, you will be receiving work from Ametek Rauland business unit that need help solving current urgent supply challenges.  You will also be identifying future supply risks and proactively implementing solutions.  Additionally, you will be identifying and implementing cost out VAVE projects.

You will work with Rauland BU Buyers and Sourcing, Distribution partners and Independent Brokers, Component OEMs and Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) providers, to understand supply vs demand challenges and to facilitate communication status / solutions.  You will create, document, and continuously improve standard work.

Responsibilities:

Current component supply constraints - React to immediate shortages within BU

Risk Management Product Reviews – Identify future potential supply challenges

• Define the risk profile on Ametek BOM components (IC semiconductors, passives, etc.)
  • Address Sole / Single source components within applications (no drop-ins)
  • Review market trends / conditions for various suppliers and commodity categories
  • Assess Lifecycle, Multi-sourcing, Availability, Compliance
  • Alternative parts on Risk parts, Replacement due to Lifecycle, etc
• Leverage SiliconExpert, OEM and Distribution partners, and other resources to identify alternative options (drop-ins preferred)
  • Evaluate parametric, FFF differences
  • Refer to BU engineering team with suggestions, recommendations
  • Ensure availability of identified alternates (including open market broker options) – engage materials and sourcing team members to make decisions and issue Purchase Orders
  • Initiate engagement w/ Product team Engineering to determine feasibility
  • Work with BU to issue ECO/ECRN’s – update documents as required
• Compliance Activities – RoHS/ REACH/ PFAS

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 10+ years of Component Engineering experience, all commodity categories
• Extensive PLM tools knowledge and management of complex data
• Extensive MS Excel knowledge and management of complex data
