Business Unit:  Zygo
Posting Date:  Apr 27, 2026
Job Description:

Are you ready to build, automate, and secure the delivery of complex Windows software products while partnering with world-class engineering teams?

At Zygo, your expertise will directly support our core values of curiosity, collaboration, and persistence. For over 50 years, Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT, has been a global leader in advanced optical metrology systems, ultra-precise optical components, and complex electro‑optical systems. Our solutions rely on robust, secure, and highly automated software delivery pipelines to meet the highest standards of quality, traceability, and reliability.

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to own and continuously improve our CI/CD pipelines and test automation capabilities for Windows‑based products. This role focuses on building, testing, packaging, signing, and releasing MSI/EXE deliverables supporting solutions that include .NET Framework, modern .NET, native C++, C++/CLI, and related components (including drivers where applicable). You will work closely with Development and QA to accelerate delivery, strengthen automated verification, and improve security and traceability across the software lifecycle.

This position operates primarily with self‑hosted Azure DevOps Server agents in a Windows environment and leverages AI‑assisted workflows responsibly to reduce manual effort and accelerate troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps Server (YAML) for Windows/.NET and native C++ solutions, including PR validation, gated builds, artifact publishing, and release orchestration.
  • Build and maintain standardized pipeline templates and shared components to enable consistent, repeatable workflows across teams (restore, build, test, package, sign, publish).
  • Own Windows build engineering across .NET Framework and modern .NET using MSBuild and dotnet CLI, including NuGet restore strategies, deterministic builds, and versioning.
  • Support CI for native C++ and C++/CLI components, including toolchain compatibility management (Visual Studio Build Tools, Windows SDK/WDK where applicable).
  • Develop and maintain test automation tools and utilities to improve execution reliability, diagnostics, repeatability, and reporting.
  • Integrate automated testing end‑to‑end within DevOps pipelines by partnering with Development and QA to:
    • Execute unit, integration, and regression test suites reliably in CI
    • Publish test results and diagnostic artifacts (logs, dumps, reports) for rapid troubleshooting
    • Improve signal quality by reducing flaky tests and improving failure categorization and rerun strategies
  • Implement and automate MSI/EXE packaging, code signing, and release promotion, ensuring full traceability from work items and commits through released artifacts.
  • Improve handling of large binary assets (multi‑GB) through optimized strategies across file shares, Azure DevOps Artifacts, and Git LFS.
  • Engineer and maintain self‑hosted Windows build agents, including standardized toolchains, hardened configurations, health monitoring, and repeatable provisioning.
  • Embed DevSecOps practices into pipelines, including secret scanning, dependency scanning, least‑privilege service connections, and auditable approval workflows.
  • Use AI‑assisted tooling to accelerate pipeline development, scripting, testing, debugging, and documentation, while following verification, review, and secure data‑handling practices.

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Build & Release Engineering, CI/CD, or test automation infrastructure within a Windows software environment.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps Server, including Pipelines (YAML), Repos, branch policies, service connections, environments/approvals, and agent pools.
  • Proven experience building and troubleshooting Windows CI for .NET Framework and modern .NET using MSBuild and dotnet CLI.
  • Experience supporting CI pipelines for native C++ and/or C++/CLI projects, including multi‑configuration builds.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation, pipeline logic, and build agent management.
  • Experience building or maintaining test automation tooling, including test harnesses, runners, environment provisioning, diagnostics collection, or result publishing.
  • Strong Windows troubleshooting skills, including permissions, certificates, networking, and build agent diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Development, QA, IT, Security, and Operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with release engineering for MSI/EXE deliverables, including installer tooling and code‑signing integration.
  • Experience managing large file and binary assets using Git LFS, artifact repositories, and file shares.
  • Familiarity with driver build and signing workflows and Windows SDK/WDK tooling.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD security gates, dependency scanning, artifact integrity controls, and audit‑friendly approval processes.
  • Experience improving pipeline performance and reliability through caching, parallelization, and standardized agent images.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to improve DevOps and test automation productivity, with a strong verify‑before‑merge discipline.
