Job Description: 

The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for purchasing and ensuring accurate and timely deliveries of purchased materials, components, and services required for the manufacturing and maintenance of measuring equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality supplies to meet production needs.

Key Responsibilities Purchasing

  • Ensure all purchase orders are placed, acknowledged and confirmed delivery dates recorded within Microsoft Dynamics Navision, and continually updated accordingly.
  • Interpret MRP suggestions and raise logical purchase orders
  • Process requisitions from engineering and wider group, accurately and efficiently raising purchase orders.
  • Proactively track deliveries and ensure all delivery dates are recorded/revised.
  • Support buyers with goods receipting queries.
  • Monitor inventory levels to optimise stock and minimise costs.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and warehouse teams to address any discrepancies.
  • Support sourcing activities where required.
  • Support buyers with invoice queries.
  • Resolve any issues promptly, escalating to the Procurement Manager where necessary.
  • Ad-hoc duties in line with business requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, putting in the extra mile when required.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate delivery date and inventory management support
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve supply chain issues and negotiate favourable terms as required.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Excel, procurement software and MRP systems
  • Strong English-Speaking Individual 
  • Willing to work within UK time zone

Experience & Qualifications Essential

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
    Desirable
  • CIPS / Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in expediting, purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment which included delivery date management.
