AMETEK LMS is HIRING! We are looking for a Welding Engineer to support our manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support new and existing Product Lines pertaining to welding with the following processes: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) Gas Metal Arc Welding -OGMAW) (manual and semi-automated) Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Procedural control and process documentation ownership for code welds, ensuring compliance to required regulatory bodies and standards, including but not limited to: American Welding Society (AWS), Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), International Standards Organization (ISO), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), American Petroleum Institute (API) and others as required by customer specifications.
- Review customer specifications and work with Sales/Quotation to resolve special customer requirements.
- Support and develop welding procedures for materials including but not limited to: carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, titanium, Inconel alloys, Monel alloys, and Nickel alloys.
- Qualify and maintain documentation for ASME Section IX code and API 582 code welding procedures.
- Qualify and train production personnel in proper welding procedures / methods for existing and new designs.
- Maintain and improve current welding processes relative to existing and new product designs.
- Optimize current welding and manufacturing processes by eliminating process variation for new and existing products.
- Participate in New Product Introduction programs consisting of design development; critical feature development, design reviews and manufacturing implementation as it pertains to welding.
- Design, document and implement welding equipment and tooling to support new and existing designs while leveraging technical expertise to increase efficiency and profitability.
- Coordinate and analyze results from pilot runs of new or modified product designs.
- Prepare all required documentation for new products and processes through Engineering Change Notices
(ECN) as it pertains to welding.
- Document design and process requirements utilizing work instructions (for standard and custom products), weld procedures, Non Conformance Reports (NCR's) and other associated manufacturing documentation.
- Document processes, train operators and provide project status to customers and management.
- Utilize fundamental engineering principals to resolve process challenges and continuously improves current processes.
- Create technical reports and procedures using MS Office and CAD software (SolidWorks)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal departments, employees at all levels and customers from a wide range of industries throughout the world.
- Willingness to work hands-on with production, including setup, programming, processing and trouble shooting.
- Ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and management teams in a concise manner.
- Attend meeting, as assigned and as appropriate to discuss and evaluate issues which affect production.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, or Manufacturing engineering combined with welding experience in piping.
- Minimum of 5 years weld engineering and process experience, including qualification to standards.
- Hands on experience with production welding equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of welding and joining processes, using the following processes GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, limited spot welding and sliver soldering.
- Welding procedure development experience to ASME Section IX, API 582 and NACE.
