You will play a critical role in both sustaining engineering and new product development, collaborating across disciplines to deliver robust and reliable solutions.
This is an opportunity to work on high-impact products in a collaborative environment within a global, growth-oriented company.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and development of level measurement products, including sensor housings, pressure vessels, process fittings, and mechanical assemblies.
- Apply sound engineering principles to design for harsh industrial environments, including exposure to pressure, vibration, temperature extremes, and corrosive substances.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as ASME, ANSI, and industry-specific certifications (e.g., ATEX, IECEx, UL, CSA).
- Perform detailed design calculations, material selection, thermal and structural analysis, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials (using SolidWorks or equivalent).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing, and quality to support prototyping, testing, and production release.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) principles early in the development process.
- Support regulatory testing, environmental qualifications, and failure investigations (including root cause analysis and corrective actions).
- Serve as a technical mentor to junior mechanical engineers and contribute to process improvements and design standards.
- Other duties assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10-12 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in instrumentation, sensors, or ruggedized industrial products.
- Proven experience designing components for hazardous or regulated environments (e.g., explosion-proof or intrinsically safe equipment).
- Experience with design and fabrication of machined, cast, and molded parts.
- Familiarity with pressure-containing designs and ASME code requirements is a plus.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and PDM/PLM tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with thermal, vibration, and FEA analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
