Are you a problem-solver with a passion for mechanical design and innovation? AMETEK Telular is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you’ll bring your expertise in mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies to tackle complex challenges, designing and developing products that make a difference. This position will have you working closely with our Electrical Engineering team to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions for our full product scope.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will:
- Serve as a key member of the development team, guiding products from conception and design through implementation.
- Design enclosures to house electronics for deployment in diverse environments.
- Support design, project, and process management for programs, products, parts, and tools.
- Develop tools for part manufacturing and inspection to ensure product quality.
- Create mechanical product test procedures and conduct engineering evaluations to guarantee manufacturability and performance.
- Prepare detailed product documentation, including performance and dimension requirements.
- Oversee and execute engineering change requests, prototype builds, and sample requests throughout the product lifecycle.
- Utilize CAD and computer-aided engineering software for mechanical design tasks.
- Condense engineering data for marketing presentations.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 5+ years in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
- 3+ years designing for plastic injection molding.
- 2+ years designing brackets and simple enclosures using sheet metal.
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and industry standards for mechanical drawings.
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Flexibility to work remotely, hybrid, or on-site as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FEA software (SolidWorks Simulation preferred).
- Knowledge of intrinsically safe design practices.
- Familiarity with resins and chemical compatibility.
- Experience with MIL-STD-810 standards.
- Machine shop experience.
