Job Description: 

The Engineering Project Manager will work in a small, team-based environment while enjoying the support and opportunities of a large, international corporation.

 

New Product Development

  • Project management – schedules, reporting, meetings, handling external projects/resources.

  • Design, build, test and evaluate mechanical subassemblies, products and systems to meet the performance, cost and scheduling requirements as defined by the customer and the company’s goals.

  • Integrate subassemblies into prototype units; support continuing product development, test, system verification, and validation, throughout the development process and into production release.

  • Review new designs and define the manufacturing operational sequence. Create assembly work instructions when needed.

 

Sustaining Engineering

  • Resolve product nonconformance issues; implement product and process improvement/cost reduction initiatives.

  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, structuring of items, bills of material, ECNs and routings.

  • Find and approve alternatives to obsolete components.

  • Review product design and design changes for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

  • Assist QA and Operations departments in determining disposition of rejected parts and material.

  • Work closely with production departments to resolve manufacturing problems and provide assistance.

  • Maintain assembly instructions and templates in cooperation with production department and laboratory.

 

Sales and Customer Support

  • Documentation for FP-temperature sensors.

  • Design of special inserts for JOFRA calibrators.

  • Respond to supplier questionnaires.

 

Internal projects

  • Manage ISO-projects (updates, expansions).

  • Manage internal improvement projects.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a 4-year college or university.  

  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training in an engineering environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Familiarity with mechanical and machine design, stress analysis, weld design, injection molding, die cast, extrusion, fabricated sheet metal, surface finishes, and LEAN manufacturing techniques. Experience leading design efforts and coordinating design teams.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, as well as exceptional design documentation and project organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated, able to work under little supervision, able to adapt to changing design requirements and easily transition between projects to meet priorities.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
